How do I buy South Korean won?

Ordering online is simple. Just enter the amount of South Korean won you want to buy and select how you would prefer to pay and we'll return a list of Australian foreign exchange companies who are selling South Korean won right now for home delivery. We automatically factor in delivery charges and commission so the best deals are always at the top of the table. Select your preferred supplier and follow the link to their website where you can place your order.

When is the best time to buy South Korean won?

You can get some better context for today's rates by looking at our historical dollar to South Korean won exchange rates and this might help you to decide if now is a good time to buy. In any event, the day-to-day changes in the exchange rate won't make a huge difference to the amount of currency you'll receive unless you're buying tends of thousands of dollars worth, so our advice is to not worry about trying to perfectly time the market and instead just buy whenever is most convenient for you.

Can I collect my South Korean won in person?

Yes, most foreign exchange suppliers allow you to collect from them in person. See our dedicated Click & Collect page where you can search for suppliers within 50 km of your location. Make sure you order or reserve your South Korean won online first on the supplier's website to guarantee the exchange rate as some suppliers may offer a lower rate if you walk in off the street unannounced.

How long does Delivery take?

Most suppliers will aim to post your order within one business day after they receive your payment. All orders are sent via Australia Post secure delivery and will take 3 to 5 business days to arrive depending on the payment method you use.

Do I have to be at home when my currency is delivered?

No. Most suppliers will allow you to select a delivery date so you can choose a day that is convenient for you, but if you're not at home when your order arrives it will be taken to the nearest Australia Post store and you'll have 7 days to pick it up. When you collect your order you'll need to show the identification you used when you placed the order.

Can I have my South Korean won sent to a different address?

No. Suppliers will only deliver to the residential home address of the person paying for the currency (i.e. the card or bank account holder's address). This is for security reasons because a signature is required when the currency is delivered, and signatures from work or other addresses can be unreliable and difficult to prove.

Are there any limits on the amount of South Korean won I can order?

Most currency suppliers have a minimum and a maximum amount you can order from them for home delivery; however, we automatically factor these limits into our comparisons so if you tell us exactly how much you want to spend we'll only show you suppliers that can fulfill your request. Typically the upper limit for home delivery is around $10,000.

Is ordering online safe and secure?

All of the currency suppliers we compare use SSL encryption as standard on their ordering pages. This means that when you place an order, a secure connection is created between you and the supplier and your personal and payment details are transmitted using the same level of encryption as online banking.

Do I need to provide ID or other documents?

You may be asked to provide some ID or to carry out an online identity check when you place an order but the requirements can vary from supplier to supplier depending on how much you order. The supplier will provide full instructions on what documents (if any) you'll need to provide during the order process.

Can I send money to a bank account in South Korea instead?

Yes, we can facilitate the transfer of currency into an overseas bank account; see our Money Transfers page for more information.
